Octagonal brick and limestone tower on a square limestone base, designed like a gothic church porch. The tower is capped with a square lantern, a white clock face on each side, heavy with Roman numerals. The towering roof is capped with a gold-coloured weathervane. The viewpoint is on the short coast road called 'Tower Esplanade', behind the tower is the row of tourist-trap shops in Lumley road. The tower dominates the picture, standing out of a partly blue sky mostly filled with white, purplish, clouds. There is a ring of brick flowerbeds ringing the roundabout the tower is in. The photo was taken in May, the flower beds are just green.
