ترموس

ترموس سرده‌ای از باکتری‌های گرمادوست و یکی از چندین سردهٔ باکتریایی متعلق به شاخهٔ داینوکوکوتا است. گونه‌های ترموس را می‌توان از سایر سرده‌های خانوادهٔ ترمال‌ها و همچنین تمام باکتری‌های دیگر با حضور هشت ایندل حفاظت‌شده (CSIs)، موجود در پروتئین‌هایی مانند آدنیلات کیناز و دی‌ان‌ای هلیکاز همانندسازی‌کننده و همچنین ۱۴ پروتئین حفاظت‌شده (CSPs)، متمایز کرد که به‌طور انحصاری، در اعضای این سرده مشترک هستند.[۱]
