Флаг Селемджинского района представляет собой прямоугольное полотнище с отношением ширины к длине 2:3.

Левый верхний угол флага (граница проходит по диагонали прямоугольника) имеет белый цвет. По середине полотнища проходит жёлтая полоса. Верхняя граница полосы проходит параллельно диагонали прямоугольника на расстоянии 1/3 ширины полотнища от левого нижнего угла. Нижний правый угол окрашен в зелёный цвет.
