In 2014, BirdLife changed their unique identifier scheme to harmonize with the IUCN identifiers. Internally, this new identifier is referred to as the sisRecID.
New urls are in the format of this example: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species/factsheet/22708958
Old urls, which still work for many (but not all) species, are in this format: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/speciesfactsheet.php?id=7116.
This template requires the use of the number from the NEW style url.
