در آنالیز ریاضی مجموعه‌ای که هر پوشش آن یک زیر پوشش متناهی داشته باشد مجموعه‌ای فشرده (=جمع و جور) خوانده می‌شود. از تبعات آن این است که [[زیر مجموعه]]ای از [[فضای اقلیدسی]] <math>\mathbb{R}</math><sup>n</sup> که [[مجموعهٔ بسته|بسته]] و [[مجموعه کراندار|کراندار]] باشد، فشرده است. مثلاً در <math>\mathbb{R}</math> [[فاصله یکه|فاصلهٔ یکهٔ]] بستهٔ [0,1] فشرده است، اما مجموعهٔ اعداد صحیح <math>\mathbb{Z}</math> این طور نیست (زیرا کراندار نیست) و بازهٔ نیمه باز <span dir=ltr>[0, 1)</span> نیز همینطور (زیرا بسته نیست).
یک روش جدیدتر این است که یک [[فضای توپولوژیکی]] را فشرده بنامیم اگر که هر [[پوشش باز]] آن یک زیر پوشش متناهی داشته باشد. قضیهٔ هاینه-بورل نشان می‌دهد این تعریف معادل است با زیر «بسته و کراندار» برای زیر مجموعه‌های فضای اقلیدسی.
