Leningrad, which has been likened to Verdun through its indomitable resistance against the German siege, has since September 1941 withstood the the enemy's worst. Every inhabitant has a war job, and all undergo military training, turning the City into a formidable and hard-hitting garrison. Photo shows a Red Army unit taking up a new firing position on the Leningrad front.
