زبان پارتی منسوب به «[[پهله|پهلوه]]» که از صورت باستانی «پرثوه» آمده‌است که در اصل به سرزمین پارت اطلاق می‌شد. امروزه [[زبان‌های ایرانی شمال غربی|زبان‌های ایرانی معاصر شمال غربی]] همچون زبان‌های [[کردی]] و [[زبان تاتی ایران|تاتی]] و [[تالشی]] و [[زبان مازندرانی|مازندرانی]]<ref name="iranicaonline.org">[http://www.iranicaonline.org/articles/dimli DIMLĪ in Encyclopædia Iranica = Linguistic position of Dimlī.
